Secret Venice

  • Venice

This is a guided tour on foot which will pass by some of the most charming quarters of Venice, far from the crowded square and will make you discover the most fascinating highlights of the town such as the Church of San Giovanni and Paolo, the largest church in Venice.

This grand Gothic church soon became popular as a burial place for doges, and it now contains 25 ducal tombs. Important burial monuments continued to be erected in the church until the fall of the Republic.

The Church of Miracoli, a beautiful example of Renaissance art work; passing by Marco Polo’ s houses up to the Rialto Bridge arched high over the Grand Canal, the most famous of the city's bridges. Built several times, today's bridge was constructed by Antonio di Ponte in 1591. It is in the centre of the city's old trading area and trades such as wine, coal and iron are still reflected in the nearby street names.

Shops are strung along this famous bridge, selling jewellery, linens and Murano glass.
