Palazzo Barbarigo Minotto
- Campo San Vio
- Venice
Facing the Grand Canal, this splendid, noble XVth century palace was enriched by famous artists, including G. B. Tiepolo, Fontebasso, Mingozzi, Carpoforo, Mazzetti, and Tencalla.
The palace holds an aristocratic Chapel dating from the 1700s with Louis XIV elm flooring inlaid with olive-root and other prized wood marquetry. The doors too are Louis XIV, banded in walnut and with bronze handles shaped as vine leaves while the floors of the staterooms are a blend of terrazzo paving.
Nowadays an important Company recreates the magic of the “Musical Parlour”: a piano, a few instruments, one or two singers who gave life to memorable evenings.
Ever since the 1700s, the Parlour has represented one of the most popular and fashionable social retreats for the literary and musical world in Europe and now a group of extraordinary performers and virtuosi of international acclaim propose refined transcriptions of these original scores and new original pieces.
