Restaurant Poste Vecie
- San Polo, 1612
- Venice
Poste Vecie is located in the historical centre of the town in an old Venetian Palace of XV century, and offers a peaceful, charming guesthouse in a splendid location.
A tiny wooden bridge connects this historic Osteria with the Rialto Pescheria.
In the 16th century, Poste Vecie (Old Post Office) served as a base for Venetian couriers, who stopped here to sort the mail between a glass of wine and a bowl of risotto.
The place went upscale, but the large fireplaces are still here, along with the wooden ceiling, hand-painted plates, and some bizarre frescoes depicting allegories of vices (gluttony has been left out). Besides the usual Venetian specialties, you'll find the more rare bisatto in umido (stewed with polenta) and moeche in springtime. An inner garden opens up in warm weather.
Capacity of max 130 pax; n. 3 rooms available.
Located 20 minutes on foot far from St. Mark’s Square.
